Lake Metalliou
The artificial Metalleiou Lake belongs to the municipality of Paionia of Kilkis and the natural wealth that has been created in and around it will surely enchant you.
It is a lake that was created after the construction of a dam on the tributary of Axios, whose name is Kotza Dere or Megalo Rema.
Its depth reaches 35 meters, while the length of its sides is 1000 and 750 meters respectively.
In its waters you will find a multitude of mostly trout and that is why it is also considered a fishing destination.

The area during the First World War
, it was used as a passage for supplies
so as to meet the needs of the war and
of the famous battle of Skra and for this reason
a railway line had been built.

Finally during World War II the area was used for
extraction of metals through mining.
